The last movie that Heath Ledger was working on before his death in January was the Terry Gilliam-directed The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Production was halted for a while, with Johnny Depp rumored as a replacement (or more specifically, as a supplementary actor).
Now the news is that three actors will be added to the cast. Not only is Depp joining but so are Jude Law and Colin Farrell. All three actors will play the same character as Ledger, and supplement his footage. The main character passes through a magic mirror that leads to other dimensions. This is how four different actors can portray the same character, Tony. (Christopher Plummer plays Dr. Parnassus and Tom Waits plays Mr. Nick.)
This sounds like a great way to complete this film, and all three new actors are talented and popular in their own right. (Hey, if Dr. Who and James Bond can be portrayed by different characters, why not “Tony”?)
