Is Pandora Back For International Listeners?

Pandora is amongst one of the best music recommendation websites available, but for some reason no one courted them with enough money to cover the new Internet Radio royalty fees. So they had to say goodbye to non-U.S. listeners last year.

Many diehard international fans would likely have been willing to pay some coin each month for subscriptions. But Techcrunch reports that there’s a new site called Global Pandora (redirects to Pandora if you’re in the U.S.). I haven’t done much digging, so I’m not sure who is running Global Pandora. Note that it may not actually function in some countries, despite the startup message “The box is open”.

If you’re somewhere where you can’t access Pandora and Global Pandora is not working for you, some alternates to check out are MusicMesh (MusicMesh partial review), iLike, and Last.fm. All have their own good features, but I still think Pandora had THE best algorithm for recommending similar tracks.

UPDATE: Global Pandora has been “deadpooled”. So check out the alternatives, if you are not in the U.S.
