While his wife is running marathons, Tom Cruise is worrying that his first production has been a flop.
Lions for Lambs was really really good - I know, I saw it - but it still didn’t make it into the top 3. Needless to say, Tom’s concerned that the $35 million won’t be an international hit. It did hit number 4, and made $6.7 million, coming in behind Fred Claus and American Gangster.
Tom in’t so concerned about how movie goers see the film as other producers. He didn’t want his first production to be looked down upon in the industry. Who can blame him? Its his career we’re talking about.
I think the movie was too talky. Basic storytelling, good point, nothing new. I liked what Redford tried to do, but I don’t think it was a great movie.
It’s not an audience-pleaser, and it doesn’t look like a great investment either. Nothing stellar about the locations, filming, etc. Standard Hollywood fare.
The story is too much like a big conversation between prominent celebrities. Although the movie tries hard to say something good, I don’t think anyone cares.
