Free Full-Length Music Albums on Last.fm?

Richard Jones of Last.fm is reporting that, as of yesterday, you can listen to full-length tracks and entire albums for free on the Last.fm website. Wow. Does this spell the end of profit for musicians? No. Artists and labels will get paid for every streaming of a song. That’s actually even better than when a song is played at a radio station, because that’s a single, fixed fee based on royalty standards. So the more popular an artist is, the more money they’ll make.

Bravo, Last.fm. I prefer Pandora, with Last.fm a close second, but Pandora is now limited to the United States. Maybe Last.fm’s sugar daddy can buy them out and you can hitch your recommendation engines together?
